When I first saw the notice, and the name – Grandson IT, what it suggested was that the target customer was someone who was perhaps elderly, but more to the point finding the effort required to manage an increasingly complicated technology base, both difficult and, more to the point, uninteresting
And that was me. Partly I wasn’t sure that I could figure out how to solve some of the technology problems. I was encountering, but even more confident that the effort that it would take wasn’t a good use of my time, even if I was smart enough! So this seemed right on target for me
And in fact, it turned out that my initial presenting problem, a computer that had become much slower than I was used to, and seemed to be getting slower and slower as time went on, was in fact a problem that I’m sure I never would’ve been able to solve on my own.
Grandson IT approached it in a very careful, methodical, and thoughtful manner raised a number of possible, explanations, including some that it occurred to me, but which turned out to be wrong, and suggested an alternative. He then researched it and came back with the solution and was then able to open up the computer and install a replacement hard drive, which indeed solve the problem and it’s continue to function beautifully since that.
This was a very persuasive experience as it was a solution that I would never have been able to come up with on my own and probably would have been forced to buy a whole new computer and move all the files and a whole lengthy process that would’ve been most un enjoyable.
So that speaks to the competence and deliberately rational approach the problem-solving that Grandson IT displays. What I would add is also that he is very calm and patient and very good at explaining what he’s doing and why, which is on the one hand illuminating and interesting, but also he’s not expecting me to actually do anything. He takes care of it all.
